Melissa Hunt was born in Newfoundland, Canada on July 15, 1992. She started school in Longview Texas, USA, where she spent nearly 2 years. In 1998, she moved back to Canada and now lives with her older sister and parents in New Brunswick.Melissa began performing at the age of 10 and since then has spent much of her time performing at charity events, fundraisers and festivals throughout the Maritimes. By the time she turned 11, the local newspaper ran two front-page stories about “The Little Girl With the Big Voiceâ€. At the age of 14, Melissa recorded her first demo in a local New Brunswick studio. This recording peaked the interest of Maureen Ennis and Mark Murphy, the songwriting team behind Canada's Juno Award winning Ennis Sisters, who offered to write some songs for this upcoming, bright star. In 2007, Melissa briefly returned to Newfoundland to meet up with Ennis and Murphy to record 3 new songs.“It was such a pleasure to meet and work with Melissa. She has such vitality and talent and she is so 'real', that she can be anything she wants in this world. For our sakes, I hope she chooses music", said Murphy after working with the singer.Melissa’s love for performing and entertaining is evident, every time she takes the stage and audiences of all ages are falling for her. Although she is only 16, she already has an impressive resume and she has no intentions of slowing down. “I have done a few things,†says Melissa modestly, “but there are a lot more people out there to entertain.†She certainly is the girl for the job !Some of Melissa’s performances have included:
- CBC Radio – interview and featured live performance (2002).
