My name is Nayan and i'm 26 years of age. Having lived and breathed rock and metal music since i was 16 years old, i am still constantly finding new and great things about the music i took to my heart all those years ago. it affects you in ways that a lot of other music doesn't; that is to say that listening to metal and hardcore isnt just a pastime or something to kill time with, it is something that consumes your musical life and once you feel the attitude, delivery and massive sound that it brings, you can't understand why you didn't discover it sooner. The memories will be the first time i heard Black sabbath, the furious relentless riffing of early metallica, the soaring technical energy of those washington geniuses, botch. and the chaotic fury of converge. As aggressive as all those bands are in their own way, they were all each pushing the boundaries of their muic with everything they did and all of them had a keen ear for melody in amongst the balls out aggressive fury. What is important to me about peoples interpretations of hardcore, is that hardcore should never be pigeonholed into one type of sound. hardcore is an attitude in rock music, and although it fundamentally has its own unique sound, like metal, it is primarily about freedom. freedom to not give a fuck about what anyone thinks, freedom to experiment musically, freedom to push boundaries and the freedom to be as honest as can be in your music. Hardcore is about integrity, without integrity, in my opinion, hardcore would not exist at all. As both metal and hardcore operate primarilly outside the mainstream, it makes sense for them to share similar musical asthetics, and share them they sure do. My recent interests in the proggy and experimental side of rock and metal has opened up a whole new avenue for me. Recent discoveries such as isis, neurosis, baroness and pelican have shown how eclectic metal can be when that 'dont give a flying fuck' attitude is the driving force behind the band. Aside from music, my interests include the marvel and DC COMICS, in particular the exploits of the Dark Knight. An absolutely one of a kind creation and one of the most brilliant fictional creations this century. God bless you Bob Kane!
