I am here for Friends

About Me

I feel as though I've lived a million lives and they form an emotional mosaic of memories. These thoughts distract me from the more immediate process of attending medical school and applying to residencies, which is perhaps why I'd make a better poet than doctor.I waver between being extremely earnest and overtly ironic. I'm as self-obsessed as a Leo is meant to be, yet I blush with any attention. I cannot tell jokes, but I'm married to a man who makes me laugh daily. I love the beauty of science and the ugliness of art. I am married yes, but traditional, no. I thought that I was too practical to be a musician, but find I am too flighty to be a doctor. I love my friends, but I hate talking on the phone.

My Interests

molecular biology, color, food as medicine, trinogamy, other people's reasons, gimlets and sidecars, Egon Schiele

I'd like to meet:

people who can show me the dirty underbelly of Philadelphia. people who want to explore the park with me. people who will drink with me until we find that cheap bottle of wine that actually tastes good.

Music:

bach cello suites. death cab, neutral milk hotel, modest mouse, built to spill, flaming lips, joan of arc (and it's various incarnations). i will forever love the emo of the late 90's before Dashboard Confessional became synonmous with the term emo. phillip glass. glenn gould's bach preludes.

Movies:

i love terry guilliam and want him to do the movie version of gravity's rainbow. i guess i will have to be satisfied with don quixote. of course lost in translation, eternal sunshine of the sleepless mind, and all work by sophia copella and charlie kaufmann. also magnolia. the usual combo of arty wit and emotional analysis.

Television:

i tend to look for movies. but i am addicted to project runway and will always stop for MASH reruns.

Books:

gravity's rainbow. and others by pynchon. don delillo is great. did anyone see valpariso? just finished neal stephenson's new trilogy. the last few years i've been reading the brit lit classics that avoided out of political-correctness in college.

Heroes:

my friends. alan alda (actually hawkeye pierce) is probably the reason i want to be a doctor. mary wollstencraft.
