Dave Cloud has been doing his own thing on the Nashville scene for over 30 years, confusing some, scaring others and exciting all along the way. Often invoking words like ‘shamanistic’, ‘beat’ and ‘maverick’, even the Sunday Times described him as “the last genuine lost genius†who achieves a “transcendental psychedelic primitivismâ€. His unique warped vocals and freestyle lyrics also get him comparisons to Roky Erikson, Beefheart and Charles Bukowski. Over the past decade, he has been propped more than capably by the incendiary Gospel Of Power, featuring Matt Swanson, Matt Bach and Ben Martin.
Dave Cloud's 2006 European tour featured the hit of the UK Spitz’s Festival of Blues: “if you like your mavericks far out (and I mean PHHAARRRR!) you'll love this crazy balloon†(Artrocker), supported Silver Jews at the Scala, and most Cloud-like in it’s improbability, Dave managed to get a club named by/after him during his residency at BergenFest (“Dave Cloud’s Club El Morrocoâ€) in Norway. His fans are devoted, plainly as there is no one else like him. Following the sprawling collection of the Nashville legend's debut for Fire, 'Napolean of Temperance' (Uncut top 30 of 2006), Dave Cloud returns with a shorter but equally warped statement of intent this June: 'Pleasure Before Business'. Again featuring the talents of the Gospel of Power, Dave and the band let rip with their trademark balancing act of wigged-out Dave versus lean garage rawness, ranging from disturbed innocence in covers ('Yummy Yummy Yummy') to slinky perversion ('Orgy').
Dave Cloud recently returned from his triumphant tour of Norway and London, where he excited and provoked scores of new and old friends from Tromso to the back rooms of Madam Jojo's.
Dave is also featured in the new Budweiser beer campaign that is currently sweeping the UK media outlets.
