This is Charmain Bailey, originating from the beautiful Caribbean Island of Antigua. Much like most vocalists, Charmain started singing in her church choir at an early age, and at 17 auditioned for local band leader Lee Williams. At the start of her career, she was performing in hotels and resorts on the island. Charmain soon got intruduced to the world of Jazz, and promtly established her career in that genre. In 1993, Charmain won the titles of Ms Antigua, and Ms Jaycees Caribbean Queen, and got the opportunity to record her first single - Billie Hilliday’s ’God Bless the Child’.In 1995 Charmain migrated to Canada and continued her career as a jazz vocalist, settling in London Ontario. In 1997 she became the lead vocalist and 2nd percussionist for Jade Idols Band, who recorded a self titled album in 1998. In 2001 Jade Idols disbanded, and as each member persued individual projects, Charmain concentrated on doing solo work at concerts, festivals, charity events and London’s premiere fine dining establishments. Charmain has duly performed with some London’s finest musicians such as Carole Allison, Orlando Valencia, Vinnie Vincenzo, and The Dave Dillon Blues Band. With an addictive personality, a flair for the standards, and unforgettable phrasings, this is Charmain Bailey.
