About Me

Ben "Bear" Brown Jr. is a Portland-based graphic designer and activist. He has resided in Oregon for 11 years, and currently is the chairman of Oregon Leather Pride 2010. He considers himself a member of what has become a dying breed: the crazy leather activist.His design work has encompassed many queer and alternative groups in the state, including UMA in Hermiston, the Oregon Bears, Blackout Leather, Pride NW, Capitol Pride in Salem and World AIDS Day Portland/Vancouver to name a few. His last major event was the Living Vigil at MCC, an AIDS memorial and speaker's forum. He sits on the Sexual Health For Men Coalition, a consortium of public health agencies/community partners and is also the community lead at his store, Starbucks Pioneer Courthouse Square, engaging in fundraising for a wide range of non-profit clients.Visit his website at www.aceofspadespdx.com for current projects, portfolios, free downloads and to see a pic of his husbear Travis and their pug, Gypsy. My Interests

I'd like to meet:

People in the community interested in fundraising and community involvement with non-mainstream groups, as well as those who love social events in the Leather and GLBTQ communities throughout Oregon and SW Washington. This might include dances, beer busts, community workshops, educational seminars and events that just let people relax and have a good time out. Open for suggestions. Leather is a great many things, and I would love to meet people who know themselves and don't let anyone else's hang ups run their lives.
