American Hot Wax

"American Hot Wax" is a movie that deals with the birth of Rock and Roll. Loosely based on legendary Disc Jockey Alan Freed, "American Hot Wax" tries to show a slice of life during the emergence of Rock and Roll, and the turmoil and controversy during its inception. Tim McIntire gives an inspiring performance as Freed, allowing the audience to feel what it must've been like to be a pioneer Disc Jockey, at a time when society wasn't quite ready for a new sound called "Rock and Roll". American Hot Wax features a great supporting cast with a young Jay Leno as "Mookie", Alan Freed's chauffer as well as a "Pre-Nanny" Fran Drescher as Sheryl, Freed's personal secretary. While the film may contain several historical inaccuracies, there's no doubt about the fact that it captures the true spirit of the times. "American Hot Wax" may at times be a bit more fiction than fact, but it's a genuine Rock and Roll celebration and one of the greatest Rock and Roll movies ever made!
