About Me

Well...not sure how it all got started. But one day when I was 13 I picked up an old guitar in the attic of our old house out in the country and it just kind of happened. Songs poured out like monkeys in a tree. I'm not sure where it's all going but the one thing I know is it has nothing to do with selling records or making money. Jeff Tweedy once said somewhere that 'music is my saviour', and I think he's on to something. I guess I'm just trying to write timeless songs for the pure pleasure of it, then to transmit that pleasure to whoever will listen. That's my take on it anyway.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: www.fergusmccormick.org
Band Members: Thanks to master producer Mike Davis who also doubles on bass, rhythm king Tim Vaill on drums, and the great showman Riley McMahon on lead guitar (and every other stringed instrument you can think of), we came out with the new record after a couple of hard-earned years. Proud of it. Let me know what you think.
Influences: Robert Johnson, Groucho Marx, Mississippi John Hurt, Bertolt Brecht, Israeli folk ballads, Holden Caulfield, Willy Wonka, Townes Van Zandt, Carl Hiassen, Baudelaire. I don't know where it comes from, but I listen to all kinds of stuff. I really like some of the recent songs from Ray LaMontaigne, Wilco, Alexi Murdoch, Aimee Mann, Damien Rice, Patti Griffin, Ryan Adams...
Sounds Like: I actually have no idea what my songs sound like. Each one sounds different to me. I just kind of write what's in my heart and out it comes.
Record Label: fergus mccormick music
