Karen began piano lessons at the age of four and since her father was a Baptist preacher, she has been singing and playing the piano in church all of her life. She has also been a piano and voice teacher for many years. She married Donnie Copenhaver in 1977 and four years later, their first son, James Russell Copenhaver, was born.Jim literally grew up in church. Some of his earliest memories are of playing at church while Karen practiced with the choir or taught a piano lesson. He always loved music, and he loves to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with all who will listen. Jim has been blessed with a powerful lead voice that points listeners to Christ. In 1988 Karen and Donnie were blessed with their second son, Joshua David Copenhaver.Josh loves every aspect of southern gospel music! He graduated from high school in May of 2007 where he was always active in choir and drama as well as football and baseball. His low baritone voice, and outstanding blending harmony ability makes him a fan favorite at all venues.Anytime you visit The Copenhavers home, music is always playing and the family seems to always be singing. In December of 2005 they sang as a trio for the first time in public for the community Christmas service at the historical Knupp Church in Rittman, Ohio. The church was packed with people, they stood and sang one Christmas song, and from that day there has been no looking back for The Copenhavers. In June of 2006 they traveled to Alexandria, Indiana to Gaither Recording Studios to work with the renowned producer Woody Wright to record their self titled album “Copenhavers.†Then in July 2007 they returned to Gaither Studios to record a “Hymns & Hits" album. In September '07 The Copenhavers sang at The National Quartet Convention in Louisville, Kentucky for a Regional Artist Showcase. It was the greatest honor, and blessing the family had received in their brief time of Ministry. In the Spring of 2008 The Copenhavers released their first song to radio "I'll Be There" with the Rick Hendrix Company. Then in the Fall of 2008 at the Gran-daddy of them all The National Quartet Convention The Copenhavers were asked to sing 2 songs for an Artist Showcase Spectacular. The Copenhavers have so much to be thankful for, and serve a AWESOME GOD to sing about! There is something special about family harmony! The Copenhavers have a deep musical heritage, outstanding talent, and a strong faith in God’s amazing grace. The combination of these, make The Copenhavers a Family Gospel Trio that will bring a powerful ministry wherever God leads them to sing...
