Odysee

About Me

In 1994, Tilla Kemal started Odysee as a platform from which to produce deep and meaningful music, and also to help promote the extraordinary talents of two friends: Jim Baker & Phil Aslett a.k.a. Source Direct. Photek was living close to hand and under his tutorlage, the three 17 year-old D&B fanatics set about releasing music that was eventually to win them a signing to Virgin Records, a part of the 'Blade' soundtrack, and countless other accolades. Odysee will be remembered for its small but outstanding quality of output- 3 12''s by Mirage, 2 from Source Direct, 1 from Photek, and finally a 12'' that summed up Tillas Turkish roots and heritage- 'The Broken Veil' that was co-produced with Andy 'Touch Fingers' (Cloaking Device). Joined by Invincible (Graham Gathern) Tilla & Andy set about finding a new path for Odysee in the aftermath of what used to be referred to as Intelligent Drum & Bass. Over a period of 2 years from 2002-2004, the trio worked on a prodigious ammount of material, gradually developing a fresh approach. The best received of these were Entity and Gangster/Player which were both given their first airings at Cambridge's Warning event. In subsequent years, Odysee has been drifting somewhere in endless space- but there is still life out there!
