ROCK ME!
COME ON LET'S DECONSTRUCT THAT ABBA COMPLEX
Rock Me! That's the title of an ABBA song. Did you know that ABBA actually could rock too?
We as Swedes are naturally very grateful for ABBA opening up the doors to the music world for us, but now it's high time to deconstruct that ABBA complex. Swedish bands and artists of today are more innovative than ever and we have a broad selection of high quality artists to offer the international market. During this year's Popkomm in Berlin we want to take the opportunity to show off the finest musical treasure of Swedish pop and rock anno 2007.
Le Bongoat Management & Consulting proudly and happily presents: “Rock Me! Come On Let's Deconstruct That ABBA Complexâ€, Swedish indie at Popkomm in Berlin 2007, Thursday September 20th, Café Zapata.
The Soundtrack Of Our Lives
One of Sweden's hardest touring bands. Since the band was formed from the remnants of Union Carbide Productions in 1995 they have played themselves to success around the world, including the tough UK and US markets. To see them play live at an intimate club like Café Zapata is not something you see everyday.
Helena Josefsson
Already as a child she knew that she would become an artist. Either that or a troll. Helena released the solo album Dynamo earlier this year, and has a background in the band Sandy Mouche and as a backup singer for Per Gessle (of Roxette fame).
BÖSS vs. Gods Of Blitz (GER)
An exclusive collaboration between last year's debutant BÖSS and the German band Gods Of Blitz. BÖSS was formed by Ludwig Böss who also brought his former bandmate Toft Stade from Ray Wonder. Their debut album An Iron Fist In A Velvet Glove got brilliant reviews. Ludwig Böss shares his time between Malmö, Sweden, and Berlin, and in Berlin you can also find his friends Gods Of Blitz. From the band's start in 2004 they have released two albums and toured almost constantly. On their latest album Reporting A Mirage (2007) they co-operated with Böss, and at Popkomm they will finally get on stage together.
The Sunshine
You've already heard them in Grey's Anatomy, CSI Miami and several commercials. Now you have the chance to see them live in Berlin. They arrive directly from China and the Beijing Pop festival, and they bring their first single Take The Easy Way Out from their forthcoming album I Heard A Rumour About A Boy, which will be released the week after Popkomm. And after diligent touring all around Europe since their debut album Love in 2005 they are a great live band.
Division Of Laura Lee
The evening's hardest band. From a hardcore rock background they have during the past ten years developed their sound into something completely unique. You can mix the dark with hopefulness, which their latest album Das Not Compute is a brilliant example of. They are just about to release yet another album, and they bring to Berlin new material, recently recorded in Svenska Grammofonstudion in Gothenburg, Sweden.
- DJ's are Micki & Stess
All this at Popkomm 2007, September 20, Café Zapata: Oranienburger Strasse 54, Berlin-Mitte, at 20:00 to 02:00.
