About Me

Hello everybody... Figured I would start a Myspace account to help me network with other musicians and bands to find new musicial opportunities - let me know what you think of the tracks I uploaded to the site, and as soon as new songs become available, I'll post some different ones. I figured that these four tracks were a good representation of what I've been doing musicially up to this point in time. Ok, so hear comes the offical bio........
-yours, BP
Braden was born on September 10th, 1977 in Philadelphia. He grew up in New Jersey, moved to Seattle, WA when he was 12, and it was there that he developed a passion for music. Surrounded by the Seattle music scene of the early nineties, Braden starting listening to the music of Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Soundgarden, and others. Eventually he sold all his video games and bought an electric guitar - the rest is history. A spot in the highschool jazz band his senior year introduced him to the world of jazz, and a short stint at the local community college brought on the study of classical guitar. After attending the University of North Texas for one year, Braden decided it was time to move to New York City. He was given a substantial scholarship to attend New School University’s prestigious Jazz and Contemporary Music program, and graduated in the spring of 2003 with honors. After graduation, Braden easily made the transition from student to professional musician, and is continuing to aspire for new heights.
Braden frequently plays gigs all over the five boroughs of New York City in addition to New Jersey, Long Island, and up-state New York. Braden has performed with bands/musicians such as Dem Brooklyn Bums , The Kelsey Jillette Trio , Steve Korn , Joe Magnarelli , Nina , Carl Thompson , Myron Waldon, Harry Whitaker, Jonny Hirsch , Charlie Lagond , Nevereven , Double Down , the Oort Cloud Collective, and many others. Braden has also had the opportunity to open for George G's Jump Jive and Wailers, Royal Crown Revue (famous for being featured on the Jim Carey movie "The Mask"), Bela Fleck, and many others. He also is featured on recordings by swing sensation Double Down, Dem Brooklyn Bums, Kelsey Gillette, The Oort Cloud Collective, Tor Stenbakken, the BCC Jazz Orchestra, and others. Braden played classical guitar on the short film "Lechon" by Carlos V. Gutierrez; the film was the winner of the 1st Annual Latino Filmmaker Competition for HBO and was featured in the 2004 New York International Latino Film Festival.
As a teacher, Braden has been teaching since he was 16, starting with family and friends, then moving on to professional situations. Braden currently has his own studio of guitar and bass students based out of Brooklyn, and teaches at Magicsong Studios in Port Washington, New School University, Berkeley Carroll School, and for Wingspan Arts.
