Matchume

Candido Salomao Zango (Matchume) was born in Mozambique in 1980. Because of the passion for songs of percurssion of his land, he started to play, study and produce intruments like timbila, xitende, mtxiga, xogovila and others. Candido Salomao Zango (Matchume) funded traditional mozambican music and dance “Novos Raios” and the orchestra of traditional and urban music “Timbila Muzimba” that have just had concerts in Africa, Europa and Asia.
He took part in playing “Romeu and Julieta” show in Donau Festival in Krems (Austria) and also took part in the creation of the electronic music group named “MoSomeBigNoise”, shown in Sunset Festival Tanzlust Freisdat in Linz (Austria) and in the culture Movement Festival in Viena. As a percussionnist and vocalist Matchume participated in the contemporary play (of dance) called “Grations os Barbarous Tribes”, that was presented in France and Belgica. In France Matchume operates with a contemporary company of dance “Kubilai Khan” and in Portugal, develops projects with the percussion group “Drumming”.
Matchume Zango, with his various works, was dedicated as leader of Master Classes in places like, Universidade de Aveiro, Conservatorio da Gulbenkian, Escola Superior do ponto de Esmae, Academia de musica de viana de castelo, Academia de lousada.(Portugal)
