The powerful and rich tone of Madeline Roa's voice mixed with her emotionally charged lyrics and catchy melodies will captivate any listener. Whether she's singing about love, societal issues, or reflecting on childhood fears ...one thing is for sure...you will feel that she means what she's singing. Her sound appeals to all ages, male and female.
Her sound is a mind-blowing fusion of Acoustic Rock, Folk, and Urban Pop. Her earliest influences are that of her older brothers funk & R&B music. "Earth, Wind, & Fire", "Funkadelic", Bootsy Collins", and "Tower of Power" all gave her music the R&B laced back drop. Her other influences include that of her mother's music; "Beatles", "Mommas & Poppas", "Simon & Garfunkel", "Elton John", & "Janis Joplin"; her fathers love of classical music; and her own favorites growing up, "Fleetwood Mac", "U2", "Rush", "Pearl Jam", "Temple of the Dog", "Rickie Lee Jones", "Sarah McLaughlin", "Prince", "Digable Planet", "The Fugees", "Fiona Apple", and "Kate Bush". The variety of R&B, Folk, and Rock influences from her past is clearly evident in her song writing style today.

Review from UBO Magazine August 2007
"Her voice is strong with tones of wisdom and strength trailing her mouth and onto her audience.
When Roa performs, her guitar and her voice are of the main concern teaching people the lessons of life brought to you by reason and respect for humankind."

Described as a "mind-blowing fusion of acoustic rock, folk, and urban pop, Madeline Roa's music and vocal style has been compared to that of Natalie Merchant, Alanis Morrisette, and the Indigo Girls but there is much more going on than those comparisons would lead you to believe. Check out Madeline's live show the next time she's playing.

“As you can see, my musical taste is all over the map,†explains local singer-songwriter Madeline Roa, whose influences read like a Lilith Fair lineup. It’s not hard to imagine Roa, armed with her emotionally charged lyrics and sweet voice, performing as part of the now-defunct festival.
