About Me
Make your own banner at MyBannerMaker.com!JoJo (a.k.a. A.J. dat be me) I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York on the very day The Beatles appeared, for the first time on the Ed Sullivan show, at the
age of 4, my Grandma took me to a church bazaar where I played one of those games where you spin the wheel and win a prize if your number comes out (now in retrospect, I believe they let 4 year olds gamble in N.Y) I was asked by a seedy Sopranos type guy, to choose a prize off of the top shelf, the choices were: a bike, guitar or a stereo, guess what I chose ? (though Grandma was trying to convince me to get the bike !) before I won that guitar, I used to go over my Neighbors house, they were two Brothers and they had a little group, one played drums and the other guitar, they would let me fiddle around, between that and being in awe of some of the local bands that I used to see playing block partys, in addition to my obsession with The Beatles, The Jackson 5, my sisters R&B collection & The Banana Splits, I was well on my way to becoming a singing Drummer. In the years leading up to now, I have managed to con fellow band mates out of free lessons on various instruments ( five under my belt now) I have performed every genre of music and have shared the stage with many greats, I hardly drum anymore, since in 1989, when my band leader on the road fired me as the Drummer and re-hired me as the Frontman (although I was an accomplished Drummer) we needed a singer more in that band, I guess it was justified, however I didn't know what to do with my hands. (special thanks to Seagrams and Octapads for getting me through that period of stage fright) I am currently working as a solo cover act, using my guitar and sequences, I perform about 3-5 nights per week, moved back from Vegas about 2 years ago (not a place for a single parent, raising a little girl by himself) My focus is now on being a good father to my little girl, and writing as much good soulful pop stuff as I can. I want to express my gratitude to cats like Ernie Halter and Tony Lucca ( who I have discovered on Myspace) for letting an old man know, that the music he loves to write and sing, has returned and is now acceptable again to a younger audience (inspiration resurrected)I AM NOW PERFORMING 4 DAYS A WEEK WITH LEGENDARY STEVIE WONDER TRUMPETER STEVE MADAIO. myspace.com/stevemadaio
