Sometime in Feb 2004 ''Feathers'' Buckley, Mark Stevens and Steve Drew were at the Hotel Brunswick talking about finding something for the youth in the area to keep them occupied, surfing was a biggie in Bruns so we thought we'd try to put a boardriders club together. After our inaugural meeting in April a committee was formed and we were up and surfing thanks to Hotel Brunswick putting up the money for insurance. Without the help of Keith & Leona Anderson (surfing Far North Coast) and Trish McCulloch (Hotel Brunswick) this would not have happened so we had our first comp on Mothers Day of that year with a perfect 4 to 6ft offshore barreling surf so off we went. In June of that year we lost our secretary tragically but we knew he would have wanted us to soldier on, so we did. Many local businesses were more than happy to help and before long we had a bevy of prizes so we could give the kids (and adults) prizes every month for their efforts. (we would like to thank those buisnesses and sponsors for all there support). For a young club we are very happy with it's progress having surfed three Kirra teams challenges building a reputation as a fun bunch of people. We aim to look after our club, our area, and our grommets and maybe one day we'll see a Brunswick Heads Surfer or two in the international line up.Steve Drew stood down as president in May 2007 to follow other ventures and was happy to turn over the reigns to Steph Myers, who did an amazing job for the rest of the year making the club bigger and better, steph is now focusing on tafe for 08. With a new committee formed for 2008 with Dave Cody/Ward as president, Steve Foreman as vice president and many more hard working members on the committe wanting to continue taking the club in the right direction. Its going to be a good year.
