Derrick "So Hyp3" Reeves is a young talented inspiring 20 year old Entertainer in Las Vegas. So Hyp3 is originally from Southern California and moved out to Henderson Las Vegas in 2004 with his mother and little brother. So Hyp3 has 3 brothers with him being the middle child with his father located in California. He was raised by his single mother and has carried on by living his dream with the love and support by his mom.
Derrick started joining the music buisness at the age of 7 by being inspired by his poetry and rhymethic dancing from when he was 2 years old. Funny story is that when Derrick Started dancing his mother put him in front of the tv at the age of 2 while he was watching the Michael Jackson video "Remember the Time" as Derrick stood up and started bouncing and wouldnt stop bouncing everytime he heard something from Michael Jackson. As growing up Derrick has always been a active kid who strived to stay out of trouble from his older brothers mistakes and worked really hard to be the best. Derrick has worked hard by attending to do basketball, baseball, football, karate, kung fu, tae kwon do, judo, boxing, kick boxing, track, swimming, acting, dancing, musician, artist and dj. This is a very active kid who refused to stop.
So Hyp3 was inspried to write music by reading out loud Dr. Sues books in his elementary classes at Upland Elementary to instead of reading the book he would sing or rap each line in every story with Green Eggs and ham being his favorite. So Hyp3 carried on with the passion of music to pursue his new found dream of music.
In amount of months So Hyp3 was on stage performing to his own version of remixes on founs hip hop stars music. With applying his dancing into his performances the crowd has carried on to follow the entertaining performances that So Hyp3 has put on.
After hard rough times Derrick and his family felt like they were coming to a dead end and didnt know which wasy to turn and came to a decision to pack their bags and go to Las Vegas.
As their start in a new fresh beginning of a new life Derrick was marked as the cool new kid on the block that no other kids was recongnized by his hidden talent. Soon Derrick carried on to earning his respect and backing up his words by winning first place at the And 1 basketball Rap Battle Competition at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, NV with battling against 78 People in one day. After that day Derrick gained a name for hisself for when everybody became to know him as Quality. The young M.C. took Vegas by storm by his hard work to prove to Vegas that he wont back down to what he believes in. He after was perfomming at big places like the Aladdin, Star Dust, Circus Circus, Fremont Experience next to the Fritzgeraldz and many other places.
So Hyp3 has worked with many people who turned out to be mostly fakes and not true to doing their part in the music buisness but that did not stop Hyp3 from pursuing his dream and he still carried on to working with 2 big dance movies known as 'Rize" and 'You Got Served." Hyp3 continued to work with dance groups and more shows and a lot of other venues in Vegas.
In March 2007 Derrick started a new Career by joining the number one radio station in Las Vegas Hot 97.5. And started up a new ego by going by the name of So Hyp3 and the name spoke for itself after that.
He later started djaying and at Club Frozen 75 and carried on to do more parties and is now Currently at the Diamond Rose Lounge. Every party Dj So Hyp3 doesnt seem to amaze the crowd by his exciting mixes to make people want some more. He his now prosuing to requip his dj equipment from when he lost everything last year from his tragic car accident to to Vegas by storm to making people get their money worth by enjoying the party.
Derrick "So Hyp3" will continue on to pursue his dream an career by mainly being a dj and caring on his other talents to be the best that he can be. He has accomplished his set goals by being nominated for award, winning a award, perfoming, performing with celebrities, metting celebrities, being in movies, making cds, doing calabrations, being on the radio, on tv shows, interviews djaying, dancing, teaching, sports, providing for his family, writing, and donating money to give back to his community. Derrick "So Hyp3" Reeves wont stop as long as he keeps quoting his saying "Learn from Yesterday, Live for Today and Hope for Tomorrow."
