About Me

...A dominant impulse on encountering beauty is the wish to hold on to it, to possess it and give it weight in one’s life. There is an urge to say, ‘I was here, I saw this, I felt this and it mattered to me.”
But beauty is fugitive, being frequently found in places to which we may never return or else resulting from rare conjunctions of context, mood and circumstance; initial conditions we may find impossible to replicate. How then to possess it, to hold on to that brief, fleeting interlude between passion, desire and romance—that amorous alliance with the sublime?
The camera provides one option. Recording video or taking photographs can assuage the itch for possession sparked by the striking beauty of a moment; our anxiety over losing a precious scene can decline with every recorded minute of tape or click of the shutter.
We can also try to imprint ourselves physically on the object of beauty, perhaps hoping to render it more present in us by making ourselves more present in it... [perhaps the most symbolic example of this can be found when we make love to someone we adore] – Alain de Botton (On Love & The Art of Travel)

Paradise is not a place you can go, but the way you feel for a moment in your life when you're a part of something, and when you find that moment... it lasts forever...
