Yvette Cooke began her singing career at the age of nine. She was classically trained and has competed in several state and local competitions and showcases. By age eleven she had already taken part in recording two classical albums. She was later introduced to and fell in love with Gospel Music. It is the combination of Gospel and R&B that people are drawn to the most that has helped to mold this talented vocalist. Her influences are among the greatest songstress of our time. Such as Aretha Franklin, Chaka Kahn, Patti Labelle, Gladys Knight, and a host of others.
These influences can be heard in the vocal styling of Yvette Cooke. She has been blessed to work with several talented individuals such as Miki Howard, Jean Carne, Ollie Woodson of the temptations, Garth Brooks, Howard Hewitt, Angie Stone and a host of others. She most recently has spent a considerable amount of time on tour with the band Rose Royce and has recently become the lead vocalist.
In 2001 she formed her own band “Yvette Cooke and The Family†now known as "The Reason" and has spent the last 6 years performing on concert stages and various venues throughout California.
She is now ready to share her talent with the world, although the name Yvette Cooke is not a household name after hearing this vocalist you will undoubtly always remember who she is.
