Having moved here after living in 11 cities in 5 different countries, I feel as though I can finally call Portland home. I am living in the suburbs, enjoying my children, but worrying about the future we are leaving them. As a political refugee from the former Soviet Bloc, I have a vested interest in the direction of this country (as should any other resident), and what it has to offer. I can only hope that we will take sincere interest and make the changes necessary for the benefit of others, not just ourselves.
