About Me

Sticks and Stones was officially started back in January 2004. It was the product of a discussion between poets Andy Craven-Griffiths and Adam Z. Robinson. Andy and Adam met at Leeds University and quickly discovered that they had a mutual interest and love in all things poetic. The two attended a Poetry Workshop at the university in the first year of their degree. After the course ended, Andy and Adam decided to carry on workshopping their ideas and editing each other's work. This grew into monthly, boozey nights of performance at people's houses. The decision to make the nights public was made in December 03 and the following January, Sticks and Stones was born. The venue was decided on: Strawberry Fields. The night was to be an open mic night and feature a different guest every month. The event has gone from strength to strength and has featured some of the country's premier poets.
