ARTISTE PEINTREMichelle Rimont is fascinated by heads, with or without faces.Matter is omnipresent in her works, appearance cannot satisfy her. She needs to give a shape to these “headed entities†by using color and the thickness of her paints or by getting beyond the frame to gain expression with her modellings. The container having been set, she can let the expression of the content ride, which you may describe as “abstract expressionism†if you need to put words on it. But African influence is present too, which we understand better when we know her relationships with this continent. .But whichever word is used – our own eye may suggest other qualifiers – Michelle’s works cannot leave us indifferent.Edouard Maurer
