It was an ordinary day at Hogwarts. Sitting in his office, Dumbledore was pondering whether he dared open the box of Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans he had received from a secret admirer. Just as he was about to try a green bean, hoping it would not taste like a troll's foot, there was a knock on the door and a very old man stepped into Dumbledore's office.
"Good morning, Albus", Nicolas Flamel said.
"Why hello, Nick", Albus responded, looking at his guest happily through his half-moon spectacles . "What brings you here?"
"I heard you're suffering post-DH trauma", Flamel said, watching Albus closely for signs of stress and depression.
Immediately Albus' expression changed, and he looked sad. "Aah, so you've heard about it too", he said and looked out the window. The sky turned cloudy.
Dumbledore had been delighted when Mrs. Rowling first started writing stories about him and his school. As time passed, the stories became darker and darker, yet this only increased the headmaster's interest for the series. Now, however, Mrs Rowling had finished the series, leaving Dumbledore, along with a whole community of readers, in what felt like a world inhabited by a million dementors. Suddenly, all happiness had escaped the world.
Flamel saw tears falling down Dumbledore's cheek. Sighing, the heamaster slowly said "Yes, after finishing Deathly Hallows, I felt myself sinking into a sea of sorrow. Professor Snape has been making complex potions but was unable to find a cure for my pain".
Flamel smiled sympathetically at Dumbledore. "That is why I have come, Albus", he said. "I have found a way to cure the depression caused by finishing Deathly Hallows. There is no potion, no charm, that can lift your curse. But I have found the cure".
Nicolas reached into his bad and pulled out his iPod. "I call it "Harry Potter Love Song"".
His blue eyes filled with wonder, Albus put on Flamel's headphones and it felt like a dozen patronuses forming a warm cloak around him. Finally, he could live again.
If you, like our friend Albus, are suffering from post-DH depression or anxiety, sit down and let me cure you.
