I have contributed to a number of publications including US Weekly, Out Magazine and others. My work has also been utilized by a number of performing artists for publicity purposes. My weekly music column "Now Hear This!" runs every week in several publications. I also write a few other columns under pen names in different publications.
Currently, in addition to being the Arts & Entertainment Editor for Out & About Newspaper as well as the contributing music writer for insideOut Nashville, I also work as the Events & Promotions Coordinator for OutLoud! Books & Gifts in Nashville, TN.
I have a dry, sarcastic, deadpan sense of humor that many people may find off-putting, but I'm okay with that. It allows me an advantage over the weak of will whether they realize it or not.
I speak (and write) my mind often loud and clear. This is also often taken the wrong way. I stopped worrying much about it a while back though. People will think what they want to think no matter what one says or does, so the people who get it will and the ones who don't...well there's an old saying about those who get over it and those who die with a grudge... I really don't care which category you fall into.
When asked what brought me to Nashville, I often reply, "A U-Haul, Bitch!" LOL
Seriously, I just felt the uncontrollable urge and desire to vacate the Gulf Coast. I have always felt as if I had been born in the wrong place and time. However in retrospect, I am amazed at how actually liberal I was brought up in relation to the place I was raised.
I am an out gay man who was diagnosed with HIV several years ago. After having dated someone for five years (off-and-on)I am once more single and plan to stay that way. We are still very close friends and have gotten even closer now that we are no longer a couple. A lot of people may not understand this, but it's true.
I really don't think I was cut out to ever be in a long-term relationship one way or the other. Who knows? Besides, my dear, sweet Chinese Crested T'ai gives me all the love I need and she doesn't find one thing for us to argue about. It's amazing how that works! LOL
In addition to our dysfunctional family of old boyfriends and hairless dogs is the Ex's beautifully hyper Jack Russell ,Krypto, who I have grown to love as if he were my own.
I have diverse interests including being a self styled media, music and pop culture whore.
I believe that words are the closest thing to real magick that modern man will ever experience and I think of myself as an armchair theologian of sorts who has a major fascination with comparative religion, mythology and the occult.
I grew up Southern Baptist and attended an Assemblies of God church regularly for four years until it was made public that I was gay and I left the Christian church entirely.
One of my mentors once told me that most Christians know just enough about their professed faith to get them sent straight to hell. The more so-called Christians I meet, the more convinced of this reality I am.
I currently identify as a pagan, though I even shy away from that label more and more as well the more pagans I meet. Though I believe in and practice magick as I know it, I don't identify as a pagan so much in that sense but more in the sense that I am not a Christian.
Want to know more then send me a message because I hate these "About Me" spaces and I've rambled enough already.
