I am here for Friends

About Me

I'm XX years old (as you should know by looking over there beside my pic). Divorced for four years, single mom of two awesome kids. Love my kids, they are my life. I guess some would think that is sad but it's insanely incredible and adventurous. I spend most of my time with my kids but I've noticed as they've gotten older they don't really want to hang with me as much (hurts, really!). My third child is Sammy a.k.a. "turdkin"...my puffball dog. He's a Pomeranian. Already I'm setting myself up to be an old maid with my collection of feline friends. Right now, I have four cats...sometimes five or six. Depends. I do like being outdoors (although I have a weak threshold of tolerance for extreme cold and heat). I really like gardening although I haven't done much of that this year. I piddle around my house a bit - ancient house that it is. It's older than Methuselah but rich with character. I have a wonderfully full life. I am thankful for all I have. I am finishing my student teaching. I am in a 2nd grade classroom with only 12 students. I am working on a degree in Early Childhood Education and I'll be graduating in May 08. Almost graduation time and I love my 2nd graders. They are the sweetest bunch of kids. I am going to miss them soooo much!!!
Love most all kinds music and good movies. Some of my favs - well, they're listed over there "You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, "I have lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along." . . . You must do the thing you think you cannot do."
~Eleanor Roosevelt

My Interests

Spending time with my kids, hiking, camping, sitting around doing nothing, reading, writing, playing, gardening, dancing, yoga, singing, painting, laughing, acting stupid, Chia Pets, a strong belief in preserving our earth and in human rights

"Where, after all, do universal human rights begin? In small places, close to home - so close and so small that they cannot be seen on any maps of the world. Yet they are the world of the individual person; the neighborhood he lives in; the school or college he attends; the factory, farm, or office where he works. Such are the places where every man, woman, and child seeks equal justice, equal opportunity, equal dignity without discrimination. Unless these rights have meaning there, they have little meaning anywhere. Without concerted citizen action to uphold them close to home, we shall look in vain for progress in the larger world."
~Eleanor Roosevelt

"A written word is the choicest of relics. It is something at once more intimate with us and more universal than any other work of art. It is the work of art nearest to life itself. It may be translated into every language, and not only be read but actually breathed from all human lips; - not be represented on canvas or in marble only, but be carved out of the breath of life itself."
~Henry David Thoreau
