Sonya Caceres is a graduate cum laude from Duquesne University's Mary Pappert School of Music with a degree in Vocal Performance. While Sonya attended Duquesne, she was a featured performer in the Opera Program performing roles such as Alice Ford in Falstaff & the title role in The Sojourner and Mollie Sinclair. While attending Duquesne, Sonya was also part of an elite choir (Chamber Singers) and was often the soloist in various works. They did a world tour (Germany, Czech Republic, Poland, Estonia, St. Petersburg, Moscow) and Sonya had the opportunity to sing solo with the Russian Defense Orchestra and be broadcast on international radio. The Duquesne Broadcasts can still be heard on WQED FM RADIO. Mrs. Caceres also was a founding member of Spotlight - Duquesne's first Musical Theatre Group. Upon graduation, Sonya continued her studies in NYC & back to the Pittsburgh area. She worked with Opera Theatre of Pittsburgh and was part of a touring group "Gateway to the Arts." Sonya portrayed Gretel (Hansel and Gretel) as well as Paul (The Toy Shop) with Opera Theatre Pittsburgh. Mrs. Caceres made her professional debut in an independent production of Albert Herring (she was Lady Billows) that was performed at The Theological Seminary of Pittsburgh. She also performed there for Mozart's Birthday Extravaganza with the Pittsburgh Symphony in 2002. Currently Sonya teaches private vocal lessons in Mt. Lebanon. Sonya's students have gone on to major in Vocal Performance on the collegiate level. Sonya's students have gone to PMEA district chorus & held leading roles in school musicals.
