Michael's deep love for music started at the age of 12, ingrained deeply from his father's extensive background in Conjunto music. Playing with greats in the late 60's, such as, Valerio Longoria and Flaco Jimenez in Los Angeles, CA. This background would later stimulate Michael's musical career. His first instrument was the drums, in just a few months, he began playing in his father's conjunto, while still attending school in the 7th grade. During this time, he picked up the bajo sexto, bass and guitar. At 14, he got his first accordion. He became attached to it and began to practice everyday faithfully. Michael became proficient with the instrument in just a few months. Shortly after, along with his father and sister, they formed a group called La Tropa Guerra playing traditional Conjunto, with a variety of Tex-Mex Rock n Roll and there began his professional career. In 1998, Michael took a trip to the Annual Conjunto Festival in San Antonio, Texas, later landing his first major gig with Grammy Award Winner Ruben Ramos and The Texas Revolution from Austin. After graduating in 1999, he moved to Austin to join Country artist and also Grammy Award Winner Rick Trevino as his accordionist, acoustic guitarist and back up vocalist. His heart still faithful to Conjunto, Michael along with partners formed Los Texmaniacs, mixing in a little Rock n Roll with Conjunto. After being a band for 3 years, they self released a record titled “A Tex-Mex Groove†in 2003 which featured guest appearances by Los Lobos, Flaco Jimenez, Augie Meyers, and Ruben Ramos.In 2005, Michael later collaborated with Shawn Sahm and other members to form The Tex-Mex Experience. The style of music is in the name. A Tex-Mex Experience of Psychedelic Rock n Roll, Conjunto, Country, and Blues. The Experience has been together for a few months and have landed major gigs opening for Los Lonely Boys at big venues like The Majestic Theatre in San Antonio, Texas. Michael also recorded the Squeezebox on the title song “Texican Style†which will be featured on their second album and to be released in 2006. The Tex-Mex Experience will be touring some shows with Los Lonely Boys in the states and will be touring all over Europe including Holland and Belgium. Michael Guerra, along with band mates, is a core member of The Tex-Mex Experience.Michael has a unique energetic style of accordion playing and is considered a professional musician in many genres of music. He records and performs with prestigious artists. Since his move to Texas, he has traveled throughout the states as well as Europe.
