About Me

Bill Bumblebee Davis is a long-time Washingtonian, equally well respected as an alto saxophonist, pianist, composer, arranger and producer. He studied at North Texas State and got his Bachelors in Jazz Studies at William Patterson University near NYC where he studied with Joe Lovano, Rufus Reid, Harold Maburn, and Dave Samuels. Bill has been a fixture in the DC music scene for over 20 years, playing with numerous gospel, blues, jazz, and Latin groups. He is a prolific writer and arranger and records and produces numerous local artists such as Arch Thompson as well as his own musical projects. Bill has performed with Art Blakey, Tito Puente, Chico Mendoza, Steve Turre, Memphis Gold, Andy Gonzales, Giovanni Hidalgo, Branford Marsalis, Joe Lovano, Paquito D'Rivera, Jorge Dalto, Claudio Roditti, Terence Blanchard and Donald Harrison. He played in Eddy Kendricks' Reunion Band, as well as with DC group Cubano Groove, and tours with Ruby Hayes, Skip Mahoney and Peaches and Herb. Bill Davis is also president of BankOnIt Records and BankOnIt Publishing. BankOnIt Records and Bill Davis produced the new Peaches & Herb CD called Colors Of Love, released summer 2009.
