Scatfest Music Festival

About Me

Heading into its sixth year, the Scatfest Music Festival (Scatfest) is held at the end of spring in Northeast Texas. The aim of the all ages festival is simple — to bring people together through a genuine love of music. With its DIY mentality and strong following, Scatfest has attracted the likes of Patent Pending, We.re All Broken, The Forever Endeavor, Melba Toast, Ethan Durelle, Junior, The Murdocks, Don't Wake Aislin, and The Tastydactyls, along with numerous local and regional artists.

Scatfest 2009 took place on May 30, 2009 in Paris, Texas — land of the Eiffel Tower with a red Cowboy hat, and the place famous for a movie that was actually never actually filmed there.

Plans are underway for a move to the DFW-area. More details to come.

FAQs:

What kind of bands play Scatfest?
The festival does not cater to a specific genre; rather it encourages a diverse, well-balanced line-up.

Are alcoholic beverages allowed at Scatfest?
No. The festival takes a strong stance against the use of drugs or alcohol at any of its shows; however, there will be vendors onsite providing a variety of food and soft drink choices.

How much does it cost to get in?
Despite these tough economic times, tickets are only $5 at the door.

How much are Scatfest t-shirts?
In an effort to cut costs, we will not offer Scatfest t-shirts this year; however, we will be selling official Scatfest posters and stickers.

What's with the badger?
It is the official mascot of Scatfest, although not indigenous to Northeast Texas.

Why is there a surprising lack of actual Scat music?
Scatman John is a tough act to book these days.

Where is the festival this year?
It is scheduled for Saturday, May 30 at the Red River Valley Fairgrounds in Paris, Texas. The address is 570 East Center Street, Paris, Texas, 75460.

Who is playing this year?
Local acts The Hostile Hippies, Pearl Street Riot, and The Vessel Fleet. Scatfest 2009 also features Don't Wake Aislin (Dallas), The Tastydactyls (Waco), The Meek and Mighty (Texarkana), Ella Minnow (Denton), and The Witz (Fayetteville, Ark).

Do you have a flyer?
Definitely. Spread the word. Print this and put it up everywhere. Or, if you're down with saving the environment, e-mail or post this all over the Internet. Better yet, make this your profile picture, and we'll put you in our top friends.
