Dutch Progressive Metal band Silent Edge was formed 8 years ago by keyboard player Minggus Gaspersz and guitarist Emo Suripatty. They set out to make progressive symphonic metal in the vein of Symphony X and Dream Theater, combined with the neo classical influences of bands like Yngwie Malmsteen's Rising Force and Royal Hunt.
In 1999, powerhouse vocalist Willem Verwoert joined them in their quest. In August 2000, Silent Edge recorded their first demo CD, containing two powerful melodic symphonic metal tracks written by Emo Suripatty and Minggus Gaspersz called 'Under a Shaded Moon' and 'Savage Symphony'. These two songs immediately made a big impression on the listeners and reviewers alike. Voted "Demo of the Month" by the Dutch leading metal magazine Aardschok (Nov. 2000). In December 2001, Silent Edge won the 'Metal Bash', the Dutch metal contest organized by Aardschok metal magazine, as best Best Dutch metal act of 01/02. All of this led to a stellar performance at 'Progpower Europe' in October 2001....In 2006, Matthieu 'Matt' Boer brings his talent to Silent Edge as their new drummer, after Marco Kleinnibbelink leaves to explore other musical styles.
After touring extensively with HOUSE OF LORDS and others in 06, the band took time off to start producing new material. Watch our WEB SITE and here for more info!
