Who is Yoko?
Born and still living in Hamburg (Germany), he started spinning records in January 1999 at the age of 18, when some friends decided to give it a try and buy some decks. The half german, half japanese guy then started to mix the classic fast Hard-Trance that he loved ever since he heard his first Techno tracks in 1994.
Over the years he experimented with different styles, from new Hard-Trance to Electro and Progressive Techno, then arriving at the newer Trance and Progtrance styles which are played by the likes of Armin van Buuren, Above & Beyond, Tiesto and others. Today he's shifted his focus back to the classic, faster Hard-Trance sounds which never really left his mind, and is promoting this sound wherever he can.
Although Yoko still likes to play some of the "new" Trance and House styles (especially those of the current Electro-House variety), his main focus clearly remains on the retro sounds of 1992-1997, and the kind of energy and enjoyment with which he presents this style live behind the decks has also earned him the nickname "Oldschool Maniac".
