Bostjan Perovsek started to perform in public with solo projects but primarily in cooperation with the Experimental Music Group SAETA in 1976 (He performed at the Biennale of Modern arts in Paris, Steirischer Herbst in Graz, Cankarjev dom in Ljubljana, European Festival of Minimal Music in Belgrade, multi-media centres in ex-Yugoslavia and Europe, at the opening of the Graphic Biennale in Ljubljana in 1981, radio shows, etc.)
This period was concluded in 1986; after that, he has mainly performed solo. He has established a new musical genre, bio-acoustic music that is based on sounds of animals, especially insects. This music is unique since it is not sampled and then performed on keyboards, but reaches in the area of sound synonyms that it regards as modules, arranged in a musical score. The composition Bugs, a Walrus and the Door are Dancing in a Circle was chosen for the Radio Ars Acustica 1995-96 selection, as a part of The European Broadcasting Union. His work Touchings 2 was performed, in cooperation with the SAETA group, during the European Cultural Month in Ljubljana. He also cooperated with the international project Hören ist Sehen – To Hear Is To See that is based on presentations of so-called sound paintings or sound sculptures on radio stations and galleries all over the world (Columbia, Germany, Venezuela, Mexico, Austria, Turkey …). One of his prominent presentation was held during the international project “BorderLife†(Breitenfurt near Vienna and in the framework of Steierischer Herbst in Graz, Austria 2002) with his space sound action Guardians of Time – The Iron Thread, that treats the problem of the line dividing the real from fiction. His basic premise is that we live in parallel words of different speeds. Guardians of Time represents temporal anchorages from which we control or merely contemplate events of parallel worlds in the straight line of time. Space control is realised by the fusion of two elements: experiencing the relativity of time as a category of being (Guardians of Time) and sound ambiences from the Palaeolithic to early middle Ages (Iron Thread).
He is also the author of music for theatre, dance performances and films.
