I received my first professional acting break starring as Puck in "A Midsummer's Night's Dream" after graduating from the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Michigan. In the mid-1970s, I moved to New York and continued acting in various off-Broadway productions and tours. My first breakthrough film role came shortly thereafter when I was cast as Tom Cruise's best friend and confidant Miles Dalby in the 1983 sleeper hit, Risky Business. That experience propelled me to Los Angeles, where I had become an accomplished film and television actor.
I appeared in numerous successful films and television shows. My most memorable film roles include playing Booger in the ensemble comedy feature Revenge of the Nerds and Charles de Mar, opposite John Cusack, in Better Off Dead. My other film roles include Shanghai Noon, Jingle All The Way, Big Bully, How I Got Into College, Revenge of the Nerds II, One Crazy Summer and Clan of the Cave Bear. On television, I starred as Burt Viola on the ABC hit series Moonlighting. My guest-starring roles include appearances on That '70s Show, Cursed, Ally McBeal, 3rd Rock From The Sun, Felicity, Suddenly Susan, Cybill, Ellen, Diagnosis Murder, Murphy Brown and Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman.
