In 1989, Point of Interest started as a experimental band between myself and Jeff Mayes. We put a few tapes out at Cellophane Square in Bellevue, and quickly moved on to putting on a show at Washington Hall with Dissent, Jesters of Chaos, and few other bands. I had been reading MRR, and other zines for a few years and I really wanted to put out a zine. In 1990, I put out the first Point of Interest zine with interviews with Media Children, reviews, artwork, and some columns. It got some really good reviews in MRR, and sold very well at Fallout records and Left Bank books in Seattle. I quickly started working on the second issue, collecting interviews, etc. Back then I was using an Amiga 3000 PC, which cost an arm and leg, and crashed all the time. I used it for the entire existence of Point of Interest, and got used to the gliches. I was greatly influenced by great zines such as MRR, Profane Existence, Cometbus, etc. I collected a great deal of zines over the years, we didn't get the recognition in the scene that the bands did. My favorite issues were the ones with the interviews with my friend's bands like Resist, Rikki Tikki Tavi, Reason for Hate, Cease and Desist, Blood Clots. Also with my favorite band Dead Silence, which had a great influence on me. I also enjoyed researching and writing the Hooverville article. In 1997, I started doing a small distro, trading tapes, screening patches and t-shirts, etc. 15 was my last issue with had a compilation tape with The Degenerats, John Q Fascist, Bloodclots, Larry, Submission Hold, Cease and Desist, and Flight 800. It sold over 300-400 copies, more than any other issue. I was working more and more on the distro, and I decided to stop doing the zine and just work on the distro. I did one more compilation, which didn't sell as well. I did the distro until 2000, which became harder and harder to keep up with all the mail, etc. It was doing very well when I stopped. I enjoyed the whole experience, and wished that I didn't stop. I will try and post as much stuff as possible...keep posted!Profile edited with
