About Me

I have romantic notions about train hopping and being a well-read hobo. I would've liked to live in a time when they still wore hats, preferrably the 20s and 30s and the 50s and 60s. I have the tendency to spend all my money on trips to foreign countries and at the same time I don't believe on spending any money on designer labels. There are too many things that I want to see and do that often I end up not accomplishing anything at all. Sometimes the world seems so absurd, petty, and violent to me that I can be a bit anti-social, at other times the world seems so mysterious, beautiful, and wondrous that I just want to give everyone a hug.

Film Journal .35: Chronicles of Narnia

Faithful and magical. Not as annoying as I thought it would be. Disney managed not to show any blood or gore amongst all fight scenes.

Film Journal .34: Little Otik

Awesome. Those crazy Czech's. Part-fairy tale, part horror, part comedy.

Film Journal .32: Judgement at Nuremberg

Morality at its most complex. This highly important film questions accountability within the Third Reich. The brutal impact that the holocaust has had on our society's minds will hopefully never fade....

Film Journal .31: Sweet Bird of Youth

This confirms my statement that I've never watched a film with Paul Newman that I didn't like. Yes, this movie can be a bit melodramatic; it's so packed with scandal, betrayal, and lust that it border...

Film Journal .30: The Notorious Betty Page

It was like a really good TV movie. A very ordinary film about a fascinating icon. Gretchen Mol was adorable, but the film left something to be desired. One note. Flat. And whatever other musical idio...

Film Journal .29: Crash (2005)

Racism is bad? Really? That's news to me. Good thing this movie told me so.Call me insensitive or politically incorrect, but I didn't think Crash deserved the Oscar. Brokeback Mountain was robbed! I c...
