'PEOPLE OF SAMARIA'
A Reid Pictures presentation of a Stone production. Produced by Ronald Suk. Executive producer, Marlon Reynoso. Written, directed by Ronald Suk.
'PEOPLE OF SAMARIA' PRODUCTION NOTES
In his first narrative fiction project as director, Ronald Suk brings to the screen, People of Samaria -- a poignant thriller about a Mexican American cabbie (Shoresh Alaudini) whose next customer turns out to be a dangerous fugitive (David Scalzetto).
"I was initially intrigued by the criteria of having to submit a five-minute movie for the Steven Spielberg reality show 'On the Lot,'" says Suk. "Could I make a movie that had the 'edge-of-your-seat' intensity, yet still have layers of meaning that would make it more than a cheap thriller? And could I pull that off in just five minutes?"
The answer came to Suk in the middle the of the night in a flurry of images. However, by the time the script was completed the submission deadline had passed for the Spielberg reality show.
But that didn't stop executive producer Marlon Reynoso from green lighting the project. Reynoso read the script and immediately fell in love with it. For him, the script was begging a very compelling question: "It's like, What would you do if you were in that situation? So we decided to go ahead and get it made."
People of Samaria is a modern interpretation of the Parable of the Good Samaritan. "The story is being told from my cultural perspective," says Suk, "in the context of the racial dynamics of Koreatown Los Angeles in 2007 as opposed to that of the Samaritans and the Jews two-thousand years ago."

My Interests

Stone Productions had its beginning in 1998 when Christopher Suk wrote and directed the award-winning The S-Files -- a twenty-minute action drama produced for the Youth Drug Abuse Prevention Project(YDAPP) of the Koreatown Youth & Community Center(KYCC).

The younger of the brothers, Ronald, played the role of a government whistle blower in The S-Files. And continued to hang around the set with his older sibling playing bit parts and capturing behind-the-scenes footage as Stone Prods. went on to produce several successful public service announcement spots and videos for KYCC and other community-based organizations.

Stone Productions is now the production banner for writer/producer/director Ronald Suk engaged in the production of short films of narrative fiction and other media content.

Company Logo: Suk is a Korean surname meaning "stone." The company logo consists of a stylized rendering of the Chinese character for "stone."
