Hot Club de Cologne

The project “Hot Club de Cologne” was born in the beginning of 2007 joining 4 musicians from Cologne’s Music Conservatory (Hochschule für Musik Köln). It started as a gathering of musical tendencies, new experiences and challenges between a group of musicians trying to recreate the European gipsy swing sound – a musical style that quietly coexists with the modern jazz scene.
With successful performances and rehearsals the project gained life and 4 promotional themes were recorded on studio last June 2007.
After a summer break “Hot Club de Cologne” decided to move forward as a trio though playing every now and then with guests. The repertoire is made of by themes and names of great musicians in the history of manouche jazz like Django Reinhardt, Biréli Lagrène, Stéphane Grappelli.
Performing as an acoustic trio (violin, doublebass and guitar), one of the project’s goals is to preserve and maintain the acoustic sound that characterizes this musical style.
