I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

Yes, I am related to THOSE Trucks folks (Butch is my dad, Derek is my cousin). I'm a computer-guy, father and husband - but the reason I'm on MySpace is because I am also an Atlanta-area musician who is always looking for challenging music to play.
I am currently part of 2 different trios: The Yeti Trio and Bonobos Convergence. Both of them give me plenty of interesting things to do (even though Yeti is currently on hiatus).
One of the nice side benefits of playing with Bonobos Convergence is that they seem to have their own built-in little community of friends and fans, so it looks like I will be spending more time here on MySpace to get to know a lot of these folks better - which is great.

If you're interested in learning more about what interests me, I have a big blog site here:

vaylor.info

Also, click the image below to get a detailed explanation of my overly-complicated stage rig.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Specifically, I'd like to meet musicians who have heard of at least 3 of the following:

Ralph Towner Bruce Hampton Neil Larsen Miroslav Vitous

Generally, I'd like to meet just about anyone. Other people are simultaneously my greatest joy and my greatest irritant. Since I tend towards optimism, I'm sure that YOU qualify as one of the former.

My Blog

Hi there all.  From now on, I'll be doing all my blogging at my new site: vaylor.info (or vaylortrucks.info).  If you're so inclined, check it out.

What I learned today

Everyone knows this bit of animation from Sesame Street - the pinball counting song.  What I learned is that the music is performed by the Pointer Sisters.  Cool.

Farm subsidies and the rise of the GOP

I was thinking today about how, from Reconstruction through to the 70's and even the 80's, the Democratic party had a personality disorder.  That is, Southern Democrats (the so-called "Dixiecrats...

Grizzly Man!

This is a great film.  First of all it is a great documentary.  Timothy Treadwell was passionate and meticulous about his work, and that shows in his filmmaking.  Also, the music (thank...
