About Me

Yariv started his musical career at the age of 16, playing guitar with various Heavy Metal bands in his hometown of Bat-Yam and the neighbouing Jaffa on the south central part of Israel. Between 1992 and 98, he was the guitarist of the band 'Nisrefet' which was fronted by the famous Avi Pitchon (a well known former Anarchist and Underground Artist in Israel and nowadays one half of the Electro Synth-Pop duo 'Siegelhead') and the equally famous Ophir Spak, which is known nowadays as DJ Mute, who is one of the biggest leading names dominating the Israeli pioneering Drum and Bass scene who was in charge of the drums. Together with Eran Weinstein on Bass, 'Nisrefet' carved their way into the ears of Blood-thirst Hardcore fans, Punks and Metalheads, and went on to create a unique blend of Crunching guitar sounds, heavy bass riffs and crazy erratic drum beats topped up with Avi's subversive stage persona which left it's mark on what was then the developing and underrated undeground music scene in Tel-Aviv. The band broke-up in 98 and the boys went their seperate ways, however not before recording a full-length album with the acclaimed 'Earsay' Label. After a few attempts to find some like-minded people to join him wth his new, more softer and personal song-writing style of music, Yariv recorded one EP in English and left for a year's travelling in the far-east and Austarlia. Yariv never returned to live in Israel and settled down in London in 2001. He put his musical career on hold to try and make it as an Actor. He started doing Stand-up comedy and Character comedy in 2003 and made a name for himself on the British comedy circuit performing under his stage alter-ego GRISHA (also on myspace www.myspace.com/thegrisher) which sold out a few shows at the Edinburgh fringe festival in 2006 and regularly tours the UK and recently did shows in New-York. Yariv never deserted his passion for song-writing and music and started to write again vigorously, mainly in his mother-tongue Hebrew, and some recent ones in English as well. The songs presented here are all Part of an 8 piece recordings of original songs (recorded and engineered by the smooth Aidan "tape rolling chaps" Gilligan in his smokey but cozy studio), all reflect moods and thoughts on Love, Death, Religion and personal accounts of different events past and present. Enjoy! With Love,Yariv.
