SCANDAL IN BOHEMIA (2003-2008) was an original, difficult-to-classify band with a sound evocative of many genres and a unique approach to their work. Forged from the creative collaboration of four NH musicians, each with their own distinct take on music, their recordings reflect a widely varied set of influences and taste, from pop-oriented surf-rock to experimental noise-punk to 70s-inspired, jam-based psychedelia, Scandal is always seeking to bring a new angle to musical composition.
The group was comprised of: vocalist/lyricist/multi-instrumentalist Seth Chatfield, guitarist/bass player Jennifer Mavris, stunt guitarist Kalev Virks, and drummer Tim Mogavero. Former members of the project and related projects include drummers John Stout, Jake Rousseau and Tom Frechette. In May of 2005,Scandal in Bohemia completed recording their premiere CD, Prepay After Dark, with the aid of renowned drummer and experimental musician John Stout of the Elevator Tribe at Dream Authority Studios in Guilford, VT. Scandal In Bohemia always seeks to make live shows a distinctly different experience from what one hears on their CDs. With a repertoire of over 30 originals peppered with a few altered "covers," Scandal In Bohemia spent the last few years performing all around New England at venues such as the Abbey Lounge in Somerville, MA; The Weathervane Music Hall in Brattleboro, VT; Hong Kong Gardens in Plymouth, NH; Club Cannon in Peterborough, NH; Artmadillo's in Keene, NH; Radiobean in Burlington, VT; Pearl Street Nightclub in Northampton, MA; Amigos Upstairs in Portland, ME; The Brickhouse in Dover, NH; Up or On The Rocks in Hartford, CT and many more. Their second album, Behind Doors, was released in late Spring 2008. The new disc reflected the changes and evolution of the previous three years and demonstrated aptly the sounds possible from a band that defied genre or classification. Tracks include the live hits "Complaint" and "The Shadow Over Innsmouth," "Shaka" and the album versions of "Non-Sharer's Club" and "Wrong Shirt at the Ring Toss," amongst others.
For more information, check out www.scandalinbohemia.com“As per usual, you're brown-bagging it at work today. Nothing terribly special - just some cookies, a banana and a sandwich. As you unwrap your sandwich, however, you discover it's not the PB&J you were expecting. We're talking salami, ham, provolone, tomato, avocado, some savory dressing you can't identify - this is truly the world's most awesome sandwich, filled with spice and variety, and it has somehow found its way into your boring little lunch bag. If Peterborough-based band Scandal in Bohemia was a sandwich, that is the kind of sandwich it would be. Indulge your musical taste buds with their fresh, unique blend of punk, noise, pop, metal, indie and experimental music...†-Nashua Telegraph
