Wemean was founded at a neighborhood girls' center in Zurich, in 1993. That same year, they won a school battle of the bands - their very first concert! For their first two years they were an insider's tip but by the end of 1995 the foursome had become very well-known. They gave more and more concerts, with DUB WAR and MUDWIMIN among others, and gained the reputation of being one of the best Swiss bands.
On a tour of Germany with the Basque band NEGU GORRIAK they got to know the bandmembers so well that they later recorded at a Studio in Basque Country. The producer of the first Longplayer was NEGU GORRIAK singer, Fermin Muguruza. Their debut album (Wemean) was released by the young THE LABEL in Switzerland and distributed under license in Spain, France, and Italy. Wemean then went on tour in Spain and Switzerland. Most recently, Wemean performed before 2'000 people in Barcelona where they were the supporting act for THE FALL. Wemean stole the show!
