About Me

Arthur Bravenwood has been writing since he can remember. He achieved his first published work while in the 5th grade and is known for having "scribble-hand" and toting ink-saturated memo pads. While in high school, Bravenwood managed to enter and win the grand-prize total of $10,000 from the Coca-Cola sponsored"Share the Dream" essay contest. He wrote and completed the final draft 30 minutes before the deadline! A few months later Bravenwood became the regional poetry & essay finalist in the N.A.A.C.P. sponsored "ACT-So Competition" and later represented Atlanta, Georgia at the national level. Bravenwood has always been passionate about his craft. For a while he hustled home-made poetry books that he wrote and printed on his mother's printer throughout Atlanta's Jackson-Hartsfield International Airport while working as a security agent during the pre-911 era. He's currently studying as an English Major in hopes of teaching children how powerful written & verbal communication can be."-"I find it quite ironic that the very language that was implemented, associated with, and quite instrumental in our dimise historically, is the very same language that the slave-masters' decendents not only pay handsomely for (namely rap), but it (rap;word articulation as a means to fashioning social change) has breached the limits of merely being a subdued cultural assimilating device to becoming among the leading social mainstream vehicles capable of immeasurable social, political, economical, and spiritual change." This U.S.A.F. Veteran has written for the premiere nationwide magazine, Rolling Out Urban Style Weekly and has personally interviewed the likes of Jill Scott, Ilyasah Shabazz, BeBe Winans, Billy Miles, 112, the Outlawz, Griffy2k, The Last Poets, and Wanda Trent-Phillips. He was also the recipient of the Atlanta Urban League's "Do The Right Thing Award" and has published works in the National Library of Poetry's "Letters from the Soul", "Tracing Shadows"" edited by Richard Schaub, & "The Other Side Of Midnight" poetry compilations. Bravenwood has also performed on stage at Eric Farrell's Word Stage in Richmond/Virginia, the acclaimed Nuyorica Poetry Cafe in N.Y./N.Y. and Atlanta's own Shrine of the Black Madonna. Bravenwood is also in the final stages of publishing his first major poetry publication entitled, "Mahogany Pawnage".
