Architect Sketch is an eight man band that consists of two people.
With the help of a loop pedal, bassist Andy Kondrat creates a wall of sound which is paired with Greg Gerardi's understated, complex drumming. Formed after the dissolution of Andy and Greg's previous band, The Challenger Deep (www.myspace.com/thechallengerdeep), Architect Sketch originated as a post-punk improv project that featured different guitarists from local San Diego bands for one-off shows consisting of songs literally written as they were played live. The band and their sound has since evolved into what they are today.
Using nothing more than bass, drums, and the occasional vocals, Architect Sketch is equally at home creating music that is being compared to a combination of Sigur Ros, Modest Mouse, Mogwai, The Album Leaf, and Pinback as it is the occasional Lightning Bolt inspired noise improv. Their 5 song EP, Communication In Cases For Which No Other Form Is Applicable, is now available in a limited edition, numbered run of 200, with each album cover hand-drawn by the band.
Formed in 2007, Architect Sketch is a San Diego band that features neither John Reis nor Rob Crow. Playing neither metal, nor country, nor bluegrass folk, they have not toured Australia nor Japan. You should not expect to see them performing at the Grammy Awards.
