Decorum (noun)
1. Dignity ;dignity or good taste that is appropriate to a specific occasion
2. Appropriateness of artistic element; the compatibility of an element such as character, form, style, or plot in a literary or artistic work with the work as a whole
3. D-corum; a Greenock based rock band
Not the most rock ‘n’ roll name to ever grace a rock band, D-corum are nonetheless forging ahead with their heavy but incredibly melodic sound despite any misgivings anyone may about their unstylish moniker. That’s not to say the band don’t have style. Well... maybe that’s open to debate.
What isn’t up for debate however is, having formed over two years ago the band have worked hard in the rehearsal space honing their hooks and shinning up their stage moves in order to take the Scottish underground music scene by storm. At first Incorporating heavy guitars with spine tingling vocal melodies and driving drum beats the band have over time expanded their musical landscapes to include strings, keyboards, effects, multi-vocal harmonies and acoustic guitars as can be witnessed on the bands recorded sessions in Pleb Studios in 2007 and 2008.
Their new progressive bent has added new life to the bands sets as their new expansive pieces strike an excellent balance with the bands earlier simpler, absurdly catchy songs.
Having spread their name as far as Italy in 2008, playing a major festival to over 2,000 people, and appeared on several occasions in local press and in venues from Greenock to Aberdeen to great crowd responses the band are eager to take themselves to the next level in 2009 with the release of their Pleb sessions in album format in early 2009 and another appearance at the Italy festival already confirmed 2009 could well be the year D-corum move one step closer to fulfilling their musical potential.
