Back in 1994 Age Scott had a vision of Hip-Hop in comic books. Most people laughed and said Hip-Hop has no place in comic books, but that is why Age decided to bring it to them! Thus he created the first Hood Magazine (a Mad Magazine for the rap Generation). It was fully illustrated and written by Age and spoofed all kinds of different rappers and issues going on in the Hip-Hop world. Then after a few years of self-publishing, Age met up with 2 other artists who shared the same passion for their art and for Hip-Hop that Age did, Bruce Bowers and Mike Hampton. With those 3 maintaining the bulk of the material in Hood Magazine they enjoyed world-wide distrubution through Tower Records, had articles in XXL and even appeared on the Wake Up Show with Sway and Tech. Since then the 3 have branched into their own solo books and have enjoyed success from them as well. Age Scott (Won & Phil) Mike Hampton (Captain A-hole), and Bruce Bowers (Pistol Grip & Loose Lips). We at Fam-Books do books for the youth, and if you are doing books for the youth, the youth are definitly influenced by Hip-Hop. But don't get it twisted, Fam-Books is'nt just your kiddie comic book company..it's for peeps of all ages. Oh, and if you're wondering why we are called "Fam", well it's because after so many attempts from the industry to put us out, we are still here, and the ones that are here are like Fam, and so are the ones who still support us. So...what-up Fam!
