"As a Leo you are likely to have a hero's courage and a sense of purpose, driven on by strong convictions and the need to persuade others. You may have some unusual creative talents that help you along, and an ability to inspire others to action. In you professional life you will find success in many fields, but will feel most fulfilled when you are expressing your creative talent. You can excel when unsupervised and can follow your own intuition. Being your own boss works best, or having an open ended job description."
I started playing drums very late or at least conventional wisdom would say so, I practiced my ass off to try and catch up. I soon realized there is no catching up and my new goal was to learn as much as possible to better express myself as a musician. Since then I have been playing drums pretty much exclusively. So for those of you who have wanted to play an instrument or sing or anything for that mater and thought it was to late you should reconsider. My first band was an 80's cover band which at the very least made me learn songs that I otherwise would have never tried. Not that I have anything against 80's music, I love a lot of it but I just wouldn't have learned Journey unless I had to. From there I moved on to my first original band, "Pushbutton Luxury", which was a kind of alternative rock band. In this band I got to open up for bands such as Papa Roach & Buckcherry. After that I would team up with a rhythm section that I would play with in the next 3 bands, the first being "Motor Booty Combo" a funk band who's style I was much more comfortable with. Soon after that I played for a live hip-hop, funk, reggae band called " The Family Jewels". This brought us to the attention of a rap duo from San Antonio called MOJOE for whom we became the first rhythm section to compliment there soulful hip-hop sound. MOJOE went on to get signed by Beyonce Knowles' label, Music World. You can pick up the debut album,"Classic,Ghetto,Soul @ Best Buy. After a stint with local cover bands, The Flipside and Chaser I reconnected with an old friend and inspiration Henry Gutierrez. Henry and I met our freshmen year in the Taft high school band and became good friends. Soon after we met he became the front man for the "Gingbreadmen", a horn infused funk/soul band which was an inspiration for me to play music. Henry and I lost touch when he moved to New York City. It was soon after he moved that I bought my first drum set. When Henry came back to S.A. to visit years later he was surprises to see me playing drums and asked if I would be interested in playing with him when he moved back. With much anticipation I accepted and we have been playing together for the past two years in the ensemble known as STARCHILD. We have played with bands like Nora Jones,Woodbelly & Mingofishtrape. We made it to Vegas for the "Greatest American Band" contest and even got to play at the renowned CBGB's in NYC.
