Band Members: A unique partnership enabling Austin’s 20/under musicians to utilize their artistry to support their most at-risk peers. How does it work? Austin’s 20/under musicians come together under the sponsorship of Sprocket Productions to participate in monthly live concerts to raise awareness and funds for LifeWorks and its teen emergency shelter. Not a “pay to play” set-up, Sprocket shows are produced and staffed at no cost to participating artists. The audience cover is kept to a minimum so as to be accessible to all interested, with proceeds benefiting the LifeWorks teen emergency shelter. Participating bands are provided with a studio quality multi-track recording of their live performance or press kit quality photographs. What does it take? All musicians must be in high school or maximum 20 years of age, stage ready, and able to rock the globe. Typical Sprocket shows feature 4-5 bands, each performing individual sets, but format varies considerably according to the event. Sprocket shows are created for and by the participating indie bands. What are the benefits? Austin’s hard working 20/under musicians are provided with professional caliber performance opportunities for developing their musicianship, exposure for fan base development, and the chance to build a resume of performance venues. Sprocket events are also one stop occasions for networking with peer bands, music vendors and service providers. And while everyone is screaming for their favorite band, all proceeds benefit the LifeWorks teen emergency shelter, a nationally recognized model for teen crisis intervention.
Influences: The weather and venue availibility....
Sounds Like: Sprocket Productions promotes a variety of bands and music genres. Thinking about going for it, but not sure if you're "what we're looking for"? When in doubt, try harder! We have no set standards for your music except that it will make your peers get up and rock. Oh, and it would be very bad mojo to promote hatred/racism/chauvinism/male bashing...you get the picture. Outstanding musicianship knows no boundaries.
