Born and raised on the East Coast of Africa, Mariamu M. stood for the first time at the age of Eight in front of a Church Congregation interpreting a lead part for the Choir. This went on intensively, thus bringing her to big time music professionally after School. On becoming the main singer for a big band in her country Kenya, they had a deal within a short time to tour Europe in the late Eighties. This she did with great success touring the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Italy and Belgium.
She gave away her heart in the Netherlands, marrying a renowned African – Carribean Musician. They then teamed up and did tours and recordings. She later settled in Germany where she worked with great top 40 bands like the Good Old Boys in the Westfallen District.
In the mid 90’s she recorded her debut Solo Album, this had a strong response, especially on 2 of the tracks, “ Solar Energy†and “ Welcome to the Positive “. The teachings and messages in both songs gave it an enormous radio play, with several TV appearances in Germany. Apart from writing and performing her own songs, she works a lot in Studios, backing several Artists from all walks of musical life, with diverse musical directions, adding her own image and style at all times thus showing how versatile she is.
Not quite long ago on a live show in Berlin, a guy from the audience requested a song from Tina Turner. Out of no where the band started playing the song, when she finished singing the song, this was a beginning of a new era. She had a new deal to perform as a Tina Turner imitator in a Berlin Musical Theater. With the Power, the Voice, the Gesture, close your eyes and you will feel the presence of the power lady Tina Turner on Stage. In the middle of Summer 2002, together with another renowned imitator of Barry White, they sailed from one show to another with flying colours.
Early 2003 she had a call for a Tina Turner Double casting. Out of 2000 contestants, she was chosen for the ARD ( Germany’s first national TV program) TV show, Deutschland’s Talente. This was televised on 05.05.03 on ARD..
