Originally hailing from the Empire State of New York, Matt Carbone has grown up in a musical family. Fellow musicians include his grandfather, father, mother, brother and several uncles including Tim Carbone, fiddle player for RailRoad Earth. Carbone began playing acoustic guitar 25 years ago. His musical career has included playing accompaniment, acoustic and electric guitar in several cover bands and most recently performing solo in support of his two albums of original compositions, Ordinary Man and Kings Highway.Matt recently found his way to Chattanooga, TN in 2002 after almost 19 years in Florida. He is a graduate of the University of Miami. During his time in South Florida, Matt was exposed to a wide variety of musical styles including salsa, Cuban and jazz. He played several short engagements with a group called Franklins Palace as well as opening for Kings in Disguise in 1995. Matt returned to the Gulf coast of Florida in 1997 and found his way into several local cover band favorites such as Spilt Milk and SoulMates playing rhythm and lead guitar. He began writing original compositions around this time and has not looked back since.Matt began recording his debut CD Ordinary Man in May of 2002 in Fort Myers, FL but life called and the project was put on hold due to a sudden move to Tennessee finally completing the record in December 2002. Matts style floats from alternative/progressive folk to Tex-Mex to alternative country. Reviewer Jay Mouton of Performer Magazine (Southeast edition) stated Carbones dexterity as a guitar player, mandolin player, producer, singer, and most importantly a songwriter serves him unerringly well. Herm Dunbar of THE PULSE described Carbones style as comfortable and direct songwriting, dynamic voice and fantastic playing in reviewing his most recent release of Kings Highway released in May 2004. Matts live performances have been described as full of energy and powerful and is currently playing locally in Chattanooga and elsewhere in 2008. If you enjoy Matts music, you owe it to yourself to see him live.www.mattcarbone.com

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: www.mattcarbone.com
Band Members: Matt Carbone, his guitar and his voice. Occassionally will sneak in the mandolin.
Influences: As a guitarist in general: EVH, Prince, Vernon Reid, Ty Tabor. Acoustically/Songwriting: Dave Matthews, Edwin McCain, Robert Earl Keen, John Mayer, Bob Dylan, John Lennon/Paul McCartney, Springsteen, Prince and Ben Harper to name a few. The first two records I bought were Van Halen's 1984 and Prince's Purple Rain. They both had a tremendous influence on my early playing the guitar. The first CD I bought was U2's Joshua Tree in 1987. To this day it is one of my favorite albums...the raw emotion that Bono vocally presents and the Edge's melodic lines are incredible. 'With or Without You'...I could listen to it all day long and hear something new.
Sounds Like: Check the above influences, its kinda a mesh of all of those. A reveiwer said I was a cross between folk, folk rock, tex-mex, progressive folk and bluegrass.
