Layout made by boba Angel : the ongoing trials of the vampire, Angel, who has his human soul restored to him by gypsies as a punishment for the murder of one of their own. After more than a century of murder and the torture of innocents, Angel's restored soul torments him with guilt and remorse. During the first four seasons of the show, he works as a private detective in a fictionalized version of Los Angeles, California, where he and a variety of associates work to "help the helpless" and to restore the faith and save the souls of those who have lost their way.Typically, this involves doing battle with evil demons or demonically-allied humans, primarily related to the law firm, Wolfram & Hart. He also has to battle his own demonic ghosts. Angel a vampire over two hundred years old. Angel was known as Angelus during his rampages across Europe. He was cursed with a soul, which gave him a conscience and guilt for centuries of murder and torture. He left Sunnydale at the end of the third season to move to Los Angeles in search of redemption. He soon finds himself assisted by Doyle , an Irish half-human, half-demon. Although he comes across as a ne'er-do-well hustler, he has a heroic side. He serves to pass along the cryptic visions from The Powers That Be to Angel. They are joined by Cordelia Chase ,also an old cast member of Buffy. Formerly a popular high school cheerleader, Cordelia starts her tenure on the show as a vapid and shallow personality, but grows over the course of the series into a hero. With the death of Doyle in the early episodes of the show's first season, another character from the Buffy series makes the jump to its spin-off. Wesley Wyndam-Pryce joins the team under the brave guise of "rogue demon hunter", acting as comic relief, and is initially not well-accepted. Over the course of the series Wesley grows into a leader. In the show's second season they are joined by Charles Gunn a young demon hunter who must initially adjust to working with and for a vampire. At the end of the second season they travel to the world Pylea, where they save Winifred "Fred" Burkle , a young Texan physicist whose social skills have become stunted due to her captivity. She later grows to become more outspoken. The show's fifth and final season introduces several new cast members, chief amongst them Spike , an old vampire companion of Angel's who also starred in Buffy. In that series, Spike reluctantly fights beside Angel as their rivalry continues, now tinged with Spike existing as another vampire with a soul. One of the legendary Old Ones, Illyria (Amy Acker) starts off as an adversary of the team after taking over the body of Fred but comes to join the team as she must learn to cope with the changed world and the new emotions she feels as a result of her taking over Fred. Finally, there is Harmony Kendall , also a Buffy alumna, and former friend of Cordelia who was turned into a vampire. Resembling the old personality of Cordelia, Harmony is grudgingly accepted by Angel as his secretary when he takes over the Los Angeles branch of Wolfram & Hart. Harmony is also the only character (other than Angel) to appear in the first episode of Buffy and the last episode of Angel.His Bad Side. Because he still had issues to settle with his tyrannical father, Angelus killed his mother and sister first, then lay in wait for his father's return. During the confrontation, it occurred to him that he should take on an alias, to distance himself from his mortal life. He commented to his father, just before he killed him, of his younger sister's death "she thought I'd returned to her, an angel." It is then that the Irish lad, Liam became Angelus, "the one with the angelic face." Over the course of many years, Angelus, in the company of his sire Darla, with whom he was at least occasionally romantically involved, wreaked havoc throughout Europe. It was during this time the he became known as "the scourge of Europe." A former member of the Order of Aurelius, Angelus' unique talent for mind games and torture were even recognized by The Master who called him "the most vicious creature I ever met." Early history I was born to an Irish merchant, in 1727. By 1753, at the age of 26, I had developed a taste for alcohol, women and sloth. Though a good man at heart, I was a hedonist whose only real ambition lay in seeing the world. For the lazy Irishman, that seemed a laughable dream, especially after I was expelled from my father's household, but I had caught the eye of an affluent woman - actually a vampire - named Darla. She lured me into an alley and, promising me a world full of excitement and travel, transformed me into a vampire. On the night I rose from my grave, and in response to Darla's claim that I could have anyone in the village, I set about slaughtering the entire community. When I came to slaughter my own family, I found no problem in entering, my little sister inviting me in without hesitation or suspicion. Before killing my father, I would tell him mockingly, "She thought that I'd returned to her. An angel. She was wrong." For generations I, known as Angelus, terrorized humankind, murdering and torturing anyone who crossed my path. I sired the vampires Penn (who indulged my blood lust by becoming a serial killer), and Drusilla, a young woman driven insane by me before I finally sired her. Drusilla, in turn, sired Spike, for whom I largely served as a mentor and "role model." Spike would go so far as to call the elder vampire his "Yoda." I had been around for 14 wars, not counting Vietnam; "they never declared it." Cursed You have no idea what it's like to have done the things I've done... and to care. —Angel In 1898, I slew the favorite daughter of a tribe of Gypsies, the Kalderash Clan. To avenge her death, the Kalderash cursed me by restoring my human soul, thus afflicting me with a conscience and condemning me to an eternity of remorse for the crimes I committed as soulless Angelus. During the Boxer Rebellion, I tried and failed to resume his life with Darla, finding myself unable to eat a baby to prove myself to his sire. I fled (presumably to the United States) and lived in self-imposed isolation, controlling the temptation to feed by avoiding humans altogether. I arrived in New York via Ellis Island in 1902. Aside from one mention of the unspecified interval I spent in Missoula during the Depression, I didn't surface for the next four decades. During World War II, I was coerced to undertake a secret mission by The Demon Research Initiative, who sank me to the bottom of the ocean to rescue an American submarine crew from three Nazi-captured vampires (including Spike). After the Americans crew captured the German submarine, the vampires had escaped their bonds, and murdered most of the crew; a remnant survived behind a locked hatch. After the submarine suffered damage form a depth charge I was to sire a mortally wounded Ensign Sam Lawson, as he was the only person who was able to repair the damage. The following year, when I and Buffy finally met in Sunnydale, I introduced himself, not as Angelus, but as Angel. She was the new Vampire Slayer...the chosen one..... Sunnydale My doomed romance with Buffy is a centerpiece of the show. when I was Angel fell in love with Buffy the first time I saw her on that fateful day in L.A. when she first was called. However, I didn't show myself until after her move to Sunnydale, and after her first day at Sunnydale High. Buffy did not realize I was a vampire until several weeks later, but by then the damage was done -- she had fallen in love with me in turn. Though we tried to deny our feelings, we could not resist the passion growing between us. When we finally consummated our relationship, when I was Angel I experienced one moment of pure happiness, which broke the Gypsy curse and lost me my soul and turned me back into Angelus. Without the compassion and conscience instilled by my human soul, being Angel instantly reverted to my former evil self, Angelus. Now I am back to being Angelus. Allied myself once again with Spike and Drusilla, who had recently settled in Sunnydale. Resenting the humiliation I felt because Buffy had made Angel (me then at the time) feel like a human being, I took immense pleasure in tormenting the Slayer and her friends. First, I helped Spike and Dru deploy a powerful demon known as the Judge. After Buffy destroyed the Judge, I embarked on a guerrilla campaign, lurking in the shadows, preying on Buffy's classmates, sending her gruesome messages, even drawing pictures of her as she slept and leaving them in her bedroom. My reign of terror culminated in my murder of Jenny Calendar, which served me in two ways. First, I eliminated an enemy (Jenny was born Janna of the Kalderash clan) and destroyed her work just as she managed to successfully decipher the lost Gypsy curse which could be used restore Angel's soul. Second, I used Jenny's death to viciously torment Giles, Jenny's paramour and the person Buffy depended most. After Iorchestrated this masterpiece of terror, Drusilla drew my attention to a new opportunity for destruction and chaos. I widened my focus and began a scheme to awaken the demon Acathla and bring about the end of the world. Buffy was determined to stop me despite our history when I had a soul. Fighting me one-on-one, the Slayer was able to overcome me, but she just made me so made...and nobody won...she will remain as someone who I will torture for a long time......and now I am still Angelus at last
